My wife and I had the privilege of playing the relatively new Muskoka Bay course in Gravenhurst last July. What an unbelievable course! From the blues it measures a respectable 6,400 yards of breathtaking, make-your-shot-count challenges on every hole. Rolling fairways, rock cliffs, and deadly rough give you a true sense of playing deep in the wilderness while enjoying the comforts of exceptional service and beautiful scenery. This should be a 'must play' on anyone's list in Ontario. |

Thistle Golf Club – February 2009 – Whistle Bear Member, Scott Murray |

| On a recent Myrtle Beach golf trip with the guys, the best decision we made all week was to drive a half hour north to the Thistle Golf Club near Calabash, North Carolina. It was a great day from start to finish. The staff went out of their way to make you feel welcome. The 27-hole course has a real Scottish links feel, with surrounding hills covered in heather and flowers, large greens, and a ton of water. They describe their course as being, “ferocious, yet fair”. I’d agree. It was like The Bear, but without the elevation changes. The biggest surprise was the 12 minute spacing between tee-times. You felt like you had the course to yourself. If you find yourself in Myrtle Beach, I highly recommend you play Thistle. |
